Covid-19 Information and Resources


Saint Clair Allergy and Asthma Center, PLLC has joined the fight in slowing the spread of Covid-19 to protect our patients, their families, our staff and our community. We have changed our office procedures also in reflection of our commitment to slow the spread. Below you will find updated office procedures until it is deemed safe to return back to normal life by our local and national government authorities.

Allergy and Biologic Shot Patients

  • Allergy and biologic shot patient will need to make an appointment for shot administration. We are no longer accepting walk in shot appointments until further notice.
  • Patients are asked to call our phone number: (586) 884-5656 upon arrival to our office from the parking lot and before coming up to our door. 
  • We will bring you in, one patient at a time. We are screening each patient by checking body temperature and asking about possible symptoms, exposure and travel.
  • We are asking our patients to wait in their cars for the 30 minute window after the allergy shot administration. 
  • After the 30 minute window is done, please call our office to let us know that you are well and leaving.
  • We also are not allowing anyone other than our patient to enter our offices unless the additional persons are parent's of minor children and/or guardians/caregivers.

Established Patient Appointments and New Patient Appointments

  • We are utilizing telemedicine as much as possible for all patient appointments, however, have also continued our in office appointments which began on June 1, 2020.
  • We are using our new EHR, Meditab IMS AllergyEHR through your new patient portal account for our telemedicine visits. 
  • We are still using our Skype account for telemedicine as a back up telemedicine platform according to CMS waiver 1135 which allows us to expand our telemedicine on less secure, less HIPAA compliant web-based platforms.
  • All telemedicine appointments will be recorded and billed to insurance. 
  • You are responsible for any out of pocket charges put forth by your health insurance company.
  • We will not be performing nebulizer or spirometry (PFT) testing until it is deemed safe to do so by Breathing treatments and tests are considered high risk procedures and will be avoided as much as possible, except in more dire situations and to be determined by the treating provider.

Our Safety Procedures and Policies for Staff and Patients

  • All surface areas are cleaned and sanitized on a rigorous schedule, daily.
  • All patient exam rooms are cleaned and sanitized after each and every patient.
  • Our staff will wear gloves and will exceed proper hand hygiene.
  • Our staff is screen and body temperatures are logged prior to entering our buildings each and every day.
  • Our staff is required to wear proper KN-95 masks and face shields when entering a patient room for clinical patient treatment and procedures.
  • Our non-clinical staff is required to wear a face covering at all times.
  • Our team has signed a contracted pledge to stay home and safe while this pandemic continues.
  • We require our staff to be Covid-19 tested at regular intervals and if any of our patient's report a possible Covid-19 exposure.
  • We ask that our patient's call our office (586) 884-5656 if there is any suspected Covid-19 exposures within 3 days prior to their appointments and at 3 days post appointment times.
  • Our team contacts each patient one day prior to their appointments to be screened. Any reported symptoms or suspected symptom patients are immediately encouraged to be tested for Covid-19 and their in office appointments are moved to telemedicine at the same time and date of their original in office appointment.
  • We are following all recommended CDC guidelines and go above and beyond those guidelines where allowed to ensure the safety and health of our patients, our staff and our community.

We encourage our patients to follow the social distancing guidelines and shelter in place requirements to help to prevent contracting Covid-19. It is especially detrimental for our immuno-compromised patients and asthma patients to stay home as much as possible during this time. Symptoms of Covid-19

The most common symptoms of Covid-19 are; fever, dry cough and tiredness but can also include:

These symptoms are usually mild and begin gradually. Some people become infected but don't develop any symptoms and feel well. Most people recover from the disease without needing any special treatment. If you are experiencing possible symptoms or have had exposure to Covid-19 please stay home. Self isolate yourself from family and friends for at least 14 days after possible known exposures or travel outside of the state of Michigan. Rest and drink plenty of fluids. Practice respiratory hygiene. Contact your primary care physician if you are starting to experience more severe symptoms.

The World Health Organization states that around 1 in every 6 people who contracts Covid-19 will become seriously ill. The patient population that may have severe symptoms are the elderly and those with underlying medical problems, such as;

  • high blood pressure
  • asthma
  • immuno-deficiency
  • heart problems or diabetes

If you have a fever and a cough AND are experiencing difficulty breathing, confusion, weakness or pain please go immediately to the emergency department or call 911 for EMS. The following hotlines can also be called to be screened and for recommendations for Covid-19 testing:
